Friend Networks

I've had a MySpace account for quite awhile now, here's my URL: http://www.myspace.com/kw64
I originally went on to look at my daughter's page, then I added a picture, then another, then I filled out my profile, and, well, that's how it started. I went and created an account on Facebook and found it very interesting that when I put in my High School, it took me through others that had entered the same one. I saw several names that I recognized. Very cool!

Flickr

I've created an account with flickr and added a few pictures. The one with the "SIL 20 for 2.0" tag is this one :

That's my dog Brownie (he's not brown anymore) looking out our living room window. Using Flickr has been simple so far, I will need to do a little more investigating to see what else I can do. I think it's awesome to have something like this for backing up your photos! I have already experienced losing some of my photos because of my home computer crashing, this is a great way to avoid losing them.

Pandora and Streaming Music

I made an account with Pandora and I love it! I really like being able to pick several different kinds of music rather than listening to a radio station that only plays one kind - I like a lot of different types of music. I tend to always go back to folk music though, there's just something about it that I like, but I've been known to listen to everything from rap (yeah, that was short lived) to classical, you just never know what mood I might be in :-)

RSS and Feed Readers

Either I don't really monitor any websites or I don't exactly understand RSS and Feed Readers. I've added several feeds to my account, the most interesting to me so far being the "Collection Developments @ Sno-Isle" feed so I can stay on top of new titles quicker and easier, but the other ones I'm most interested in are cartoons, jokes, and daily horoscopes! I plan to pay more attention to websites that I visit to see if there are more feeds I can add that will be of real use to me. I'm guessing that the more I use it, the more useful it will become since I will/should understand it better. As far as libraries taking advantage of this technology, I suppose that similar to me and the "Collection Developments" feed, libraries could perhaps use feeds to publishers websites to see when new books are being published? Or maybe keep track of news stories pertaining to libraries? I'm going to go play with my feeds a little more and see if I can come up with any more, then I'm moving on to the next thing.......

IM

Well, I've done the IM thing. I'm afraid I might get addicted to this stuff! I like email, but IM'ing is just so....instant! It's great. I'm actually at home right now, it's Saturday, my daughter is getting ready for Prom, and I'm online blogging and IM'ing with my sister in Everett, pretty cool. I'll be leaving in an hour or so to drive Kayla (aforementioned daughter) and her date to EMP in Seattle for prom. She's a senior so this is her last school dance, she's pretty excited, and we couldn't ask for nicer weather!

I'm a bit behind.....

Well, I took last week off, that was nice. I didn't go anywhere, just slept in, got a couple of things done around the house, you know, things we don't usually have time for but that nag at us every waking moment! I got my closet cleaned out, only one of them though, I really wanted to get a couple done but hey, at least I got one done. I got my filing done, that's really been nagging at me, so that felt really good! Ok, since I'm behind I'm going to go work on another thing. I just finished setting up my Google Talk IM - my screen name is acctgkat2, IM me some time!
